In private possesion in Swinton is a Bastardy order of Nov. 8 1812
revealing that Thomas Brameld was about to become the father of an
illegitimate child. The child was baptized Charles Brameld and his
mother was recorded as Rhoda Speight. She was probably a sister of
John, William and George Speight, each of whom worked for the Swinton
Pottery about that time or later.
