* From here on, except for the descendents of Mary (1782-1838),
the spelling Brameld is usual. Mary's son, Thomas, was illegitimate. His father's name is
unknown. Thomas was baptized as Brameld but both his death and Christiana's are recorded
as Bramald at St. Thomas' Church, Kilnhurst.
William 1838 wrote as Bramald
although born a Brameld. Mary (Ann)(1841-74) was also baptized as
Brameld. George Thomas (1847-77) and Frederick
(1853-1926 were baptized as Brameld, but married and registered their children as
Bramald. So it appears that the name changed between 1853 and 1880.
